Cleaners and back to the bio.

Up at a reasonable hour this morning, followed by breakfast and the arrival of the cleaners who whizzed through lickety-split. P. went off shopping. I got back to a revised chapter of the big bio. P. made sangos for lunch now for a nap. I made special fried rice for dinner, then it was Backroads and China, then one more episode of Paraiso (two to go I think), then news then bed.

Sunday crossword

I hurkledurkled a bit this morning after starting the crossword. Then finished it late and had late breakfast. A bit of administrative trivia, and now for a nap. I made more Frog onion soup for dinner. Then Wall of China (how to make walls with porridge) and new Vera (yay!). News, then Bourdain (Bayou) and Ottolenghi (Cyprus) finished the night.

Papers, tidying and not much else

Zoomed though the papers then tidied on the computer (have nearly caught up). Now for a short snooze. Up for a shower and foot change (thanks P.), a snack lunch, then snooze again. P. went off to an MSO concert of new works with Frank while I made French onion soup at last, then watched twee British Death in Paradise, then All Critters Great and Small, then news then bed.

Improving

Though this time I didn't try too hard, hurkle-durkled through the news, then napped then coffeed and approached the computer. Nothing too terrifying. Then breakfast (at lunchtime). Now a snooze. P. is off doing Noel's shopping very generously. P. made Maggie Fulton's baked eggs for dinner followed by baby cheeses, We watched Village Murders for a rest, then news, China then bed.

Post invasion

Feeling a bit better this morning I managed a bit of work partly on the BIG bio. I slept through most of the day, had a nibble for dinner, some teev then bed.

Wednesday, January 26, 2022

Invasion day

I spent this mostly sleeping. P. went off to buy a new fan for Noel. Appropriately, I slept though the invasion then went to bed early.

Phone podiatry and puttering

I eem to have taken a step backwards today. Perhaps I overdid it yesterday. I did a phone consultation with Amy the podiatrist this morning and made a later proper appointment. P. went up to the shops for some basics (milk, bread) and a pleasant encounter. Now back to bed for a rest. Segue through to Australia Day with sleeping

Bit better

Had a bit of a sleep-in this morning to hear Patricia Karvelas make her debut: quite good though her voice doesn't have the friendly warmth and enthusiasm of Fran. Then I had a phone consultation with the wounds clinic (follow-up to my vascular appointment recently). It is interesting that they read the surgeon's report differently from what I do e.g. I am suitable for a vein bypass doesn't mean I should have one. P. then went to the health centre for pills and Sal dropped in supplies and some RAT tests. P. brought back sangos for lunch and we both tested negative. Now, who knows what caused my symptoms. I'll have to check with Dr Joanne. After a nap, P. made Sally's stuffed pasta for dinner. Then trains, Biloela backroads, then China.

Saturday, January 22, 2022

Sleep

I slept till eleven, then again till ten past two or thereabouts; don't seem to have Covid symptoms (breathlessness etc.) Back to sleep.

Big biog.

I did a bit on the big biog. and other bits and pieces. We had minestrone for lunch, and now naptime. By the end of dinner, sausages, I was feeling weary and tired, so I went to bed for a while. Then I watched the news and agAin went to bed early

Cooking plus biog.

I started the day a bit late (both P. and I hurkle-durkled a bit) and put on the slow-roasting lamb (which takes four hours plus one to finish). Then I did some work (small on the big biog. which will be occupying a deal of time during the coming months). we had quiches (bought) for lunch; I turned off the oven and it's naptime. I finished off the makings for dinner. Brent and Frank came for dinner and we had a good mag. We had slow-cooked lamb and tomatoes, then berries and icecream, then baby cheeses. Late night news followed.

Shopping

Yay! Rupert is back so we picked him up and did the shopping at Victoria Gardens, then delivered a few things to Noel's. Home again for salmon patties for lunch and now it's naptime. I made prawn bisque for dinner, plus oysters to start, then we watched Portillo on boring trains (Melbourne to Canberra) then Red Joan, a very good film starring Judi Dench.

Hospital before code brown

This morning I did some more on the big biog. now lurching forward. I had a quick nap before lunch as I've got to go to the hospital this arvo. P. made mince on toast and guacamole for lunch (not together). Then I went to the Melbourne to see the vascular clinic. I only had a short wait (three-quarters of an hour) unlike a lady complaining she had been waiting for FOUR hours. She then said she arrived three hours early! The surgeon was almost contemptuous about the smallness of my wounds and agreed with the earlier surgeon that a vein bypass should only be attempted if really necessary. Meanwhile I have to do more exercise (my advice not his). Home again where P. is making dinner, curried chicken with rice, then we watched Portillo on trains (yawn), then two more episodes of Paraiso, then news.

Lots of organising

I spent a lot of time on organising today: the blurb for the novel, various medical appointments and the big biography has come back with a vengeance so spoke with a possible designer today and with the author. We had sangos for lunch (P. went off shopping while the cleaners were here; among other things they sparkled the oven beautifully.) After a nap, we had leftover special fried rice for dinner. Then it was Backroads and China.

Crossword and an adventure

We did the crossword (one mistake of ours and one of theirs) reasonably quickly. I did a bit of tidying and organising and we had an early lunch (minestrone) because of our arvo adventure. We went to Inkerman Street by bus to have a good meal (better than FAQ) at the Inkerman Hotel, then continued down the street to the Explosives Factory (an offshoot of Theatreworks) to see Kathleen Mary Fallon in her show Whitenoise: 12 Ghosts which had three parts: Lindy Chamberlain, torture of 'terrorists' and the U.S. war machine. It was very good but could have done with more jokes. It was all a bit grim. Home again for the finish of La Fortuna (very good), then news then bed.

Saturday, January 15, 2022

Another hottie

We perused the papers and I part-wrote a blurb for the novel (it's not quite finished yet). We had cheesy tomato soup for lunch. Now it's naptime. I made fried rice for dinner. We watched the Parsnips (supposedly final, thank God), then a couple of episodes of La Fortuna (excellent).

Friday, January 14, 2022

Quiet day

It's a quiet but hot day at home. I did a short report for the author of the novel(s) and sent it off. We had vegie soup for lunch, and now for a nap. P. made vera bolognese yesterday which we had for dinner tonight, then Midsomer Murders (again) then Machu Picchu (we've bin there), then news (more Novak) then bed.

Thursday, January 13, 2022

Novel at last

I got to the end of version 2 of the novel this morning and now have to prepare a report for the author, tomorrow. We had salmon patties from yesterday's shopping for lunch and now it's naptime. P. made leftover sausage casserole for dinner plus avocado salad, then we watched British hotels (disgustingly lavish), then on-demand Paraiso (not bad), then live Fortuna (hotting up), so we're having a Spanish binge, then news then bed.

Wednesday, January 12, 2022

Shopping plus lunch

We did the usual shopping this morning but as Rupert is out of action we had Merly the Ceranto who has taken up a position near the Vic Park station. We went to Noel's and delivered his shopping and medicaments. After we'd dropped our shopping and Merly we went to the Hotel Collingwood (erstwhile Robbie Burns Spanish pub) and met sister Julie, Nick and Sara for a very pleasant lunch. Home again for a nap. We had seafood chowder for dinner followed by baby cheeses, Hard Quiz and the last episode of Furia.

Tuesday, January 11, 2022

Another hottie

Todday is going to be another hot one. I realised that I have been mispelling Sara, so I stand corrected by her video of her and Nick cycling in iconic Melbourne spots. Back to the novel. We had cheesy tomato soup for lunch. Now for a nap. We went to the Marquis of Lorne pub for a good dinner with Sara, Nick and Mark, then home for more Furia.

Monday, January 10, 2022

Re-dress and Noel's

I went up to Cohealth where Virginia re-dressed my foot and gave me stuff so P. could go on with it. Then I picked up Manon and P. and we went to Noel's to change his sheets, then home again. I got some sangos for lunch while dropping Manon. Now it's naptime. P. is making one-pot sausage roast for dinner. We watched trains then Pilbara, then Ian McKellen then news then bed.

Sunday, January 09, 2022

Crossword plus novel

We started relatively early on the crossword, and while I wait for my turn I'm on to the novel and got about a third of the way through version 2. We had leftover fish and pea curry for lunch and now it's naptime. We had the rest of the rakott krumpli for dinner. We watched another episode of Furia, gripping, three to go. Then the sinking of the Costa whatever death-ship it was. It was repetitive and still has two hours to go. Bedtime.

Saturday, January 08, 2022

Papers and pharmacy

The papers arrived (including the Saturday Paper after a shorter break than previously) and were perused. I went back to the novel and finished version 1 and started version 2. We had minestrone for lunch and Nick and Sara appeared. We went off to collect our undelivered wine (tick) and a RAT test for David (tick). They'll be back for dinner. Now for a nap. P. made Hainan chicken for dinner, and they went early because David was tired from an energetic day at the Ballet School. Flash hotels, Scottish scenery, Father Brown (yawn) then bed.

Overcast and the novel

After a shower and a re-dress of my foot (thanks P.), I got back to the novel at last after a couple of days break. It is very overcast for the pending arrival of Mark, Nick and Sara in Melbourne. We had vegie soup for lunch and P. went off to Noel's to help out. Naptime. P. came back from Noel's and I made rakott krumpli for dinner which worked out well. Then we watched a re-re-peat of Midsomer Murders (yawn), then Mont Saint Michel which was excellent and revealing, then news then bed. Nick and Co. arrived at Sally's barn late after very long waits along the way for food. They took an hour and a half for lunch! Unintended consequences of Covid opening up.

Tidying and shopping

I did some tidying up on my computer and P. went off shopping. The problem with the internet seems to have gone away for now but it's intermittent. In another mystery, an ambulance has appeared about four times in the last couple of days at Maria's old shop. It is now a residence and a sign has appeared designating it as an 'Upbeat Health and Wellness Centre'! We'll have to lift our game. We had leftover anchovy pasta for lunch, then a nap. P. is making steak for dinner. We watched 7.30, English hotels (posh), another episode of Furia (four to go), then Fortuna (a Spanish series, surprisingly good), then news then bed.

Wednesday, January 05, 2022

Shopping as usual

We picked up Rupert the Picanto, went to the Health Centre for P.'s pills, then shopped at Victoria Gardens and popped into Noel's then had the usual fishcakes for lunch. The internet is being a bit erratic which might account for the problems with on-demand last night but worry not, it's naptime. I made fish curry for dinner. The internet is still being erratic. We watched news, then Hard Quiz. Then we did another episode of Furia, a bit dislocated, then news, then bed.

Tuesday, January 04, 2022

Tidying

I hurkle-durkled this morning so didn't get much done apart from tidying up and a bit of organising. We had minestrone for lunch, then a nap. We had takeaway pizza for dinner having run out of cooking puff. Then we watched trains, then the first somewhat interrupted episode of Furia on SBS on-demand which was playing up. Then Australia in Colour then news then bed.

Monday, January 03, 2022

New novel

After the usual computer tidying, I embarked on the new novel (which I have seen before in a different form) and am about a third through this pass. P. went for a haircut and got sangos for lunch and now it's naptime. P. raided the fridge for leftover including lamb cutlets, rice and satay sauce. English trains and Backroads, both of which were not new but were rehashes of old episodes, then what I think were the last for now of Vienna Blood.

Sunday, January 02, 2022

Crossword and usual Sunday

A very warm Sunday for now with the crossword done without mishap and back to the novel, nearly done. By a miracle, as I typed the last words, a new novel popped into my in-box. We had cheesy tomato soup for lunch. After a nap, I made anchovy and lemon pasta for dinner, then we watched two more episodes of Vienna Blood plus the so-called last of Lost in Paradise, then news, then bed.

Saturday, January 01, 2022

Novel plus sangos

I did the end of month accounts and Business Activity Statements this morning fairly quickly, then went on with checking the novel. P made egg and curried egg sandwiches for lunch which were delicious and filling, now its naptime. P, made satays for dinner. Then we watched the Parsnips, in honour of P.'s heritage, then back to Vienna Blood (two episodes).
